CONTENT OF 3-PART SERIES
While students are often partnered in classrooms to collaborate on specific tasks, the quality of their talk can be wildly uneven. Some students are having vibrant discussions; others are floundering.
One thing we’ve been thinking about as coaches, is how do we change the nature of children’s interactions? In our collaboration as coaches, we have been exploring specific techniques for developing partner talk. We have been creating tools that are not content specific but can be generalized by students in ways that make their partner conversations meaningful no matter the learning experience.
In this webinar series, we will use video and transcripts to analyze student partner talk. We will also consider how student learning can be impacted by any number of things including the social-emotional dynamics of the partnership. We will share specific ways teachers can work with students to help them be aware of how they are interacting and how they might shift their behaviors so that they have more robust partner talk.
