In this Grades 3-5 Think Tank, educators will explore how to use specific thinking routines, games, and guided minilessons to develop reasoning in rational number. Across the two sessions, participants will assess students’ mathematical reasoning, use data to design small-group lessons, enact those lessons, reflect on the teaching, and plan future instruction to support children’s ongoing learning.

PARTICIPANTS WILL EXPLORE HOW TO:
- use specific assessments to understand students’ understanding of fractions.
- design and adapt lessons that best address students’ learning needs.
- use key pedagogical moves to improve math learning, communication, and social interactions in their classrooms.
PARTICIPANTS WILL LEAVE WITH:
- a learning trajectory of big ideas and strategies that can be used to design and implement lessons as well as assess students’ thinking.
- a variety of lessons, routines, and games they can use in their own classrooms to enhance students’ mathematical learning.
