Free Web-Based Apps to Promote Mathematical Thinking and Engagement

What role can technology play in fostering mathematical thinking and engagement in the classroom? While there are apps that are focused on skill development, there are also ones that move beyond skill-driven experiences and offer students opportunities to develop deeper kinds of mathematical reasoning. If you’re asking, “where do I find these kinds of apps”, you’ve come to the right webinar!

In this webinar, we will introduce a suite of free web-based apps that promote number sense, visualization, logical reasoning, and creativity. These apps are designed for both whole-class lessons and can be used in small-group interactions as well. Each app focuses on one topic (place value, fractions, properties of geometric shapes) and builds understanding of these topics through a carefully sequenced progression of tasks.

We will share examples of student work to highlight the types of mathematical reasoning made possible with these apps.
