In Think Tank #3, we will explore the development of reasoning in rational number in grades 3-6. Each session will focus on:
- Assessing students (gathering data about their mathematical reasoning in rational number).
- Pooling of data to design small-group lessons to support children’s specific learning needs.
- Enacting the planned lessons.
- Reflecting on the teaching.
- Designing future lessons to support children’s on-going learning in rational number.
- Day 1: January 9, 2026
- Day 2: January 23, 2026
- Day 3: February 6, 2026
- Time: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- Location: PS 182Q
- Audience: Coaches & Teachers, Grades 3-6
- Price: 3-Day Series for $850 (Shop DoE) or $1,000 per person
PARTICIPANTS WILL EXPLORE HOW TO:
- assess students to understand their reasoning in rational number.
- design lessons that best address the gaps in students’ thinking.
- use key pedagogical moves to improve math learning, communication, and social interactions in their classrooms.
PARTICIPANTS WILL LEAVE WITH:
- a learning trajectory of big ideas and strategies necessary for reasoning in rational number.
- lessons, routines, and games they can use in their own work with teachers at their schools.
- a set of assessments that can help teachers work strategically with students and design lessons that meet their developmental needs.
